Amanda Bossard was just out of high school when she started her marine biology education at Alaska PacificUniversity in Anchorage. Bossard began her professional career in the field of commercial fish worker in the year 1999. She began to work at the vessel F/V Sunset which was a 65' halibut schooner that was turned into a Salmon tender, for Murat Aritan who worked as a commercial fisherman since 1993. Bossard and Aritan have been married since 1993 and have joined forces to claim their place in their industry. Both are advocates of conservation as well as profiting from natural resources that are used in the seafood industry. Otolith opened its direct market wholesale distributor in Philadelphia in the year Bossard returned from living back in her home town with two daughters, Bella 3 years old and Andre 1year old, to Philadelphia. Her husband has a long history in the fish industry that often means they stay apart for five months or more. This is when they are focusing on their environment and financial goals.
